On the point of the flux.... if they didn't give themselves the option to turn it off in specific arenas at will, then that's just one of two things.... shitty planning, or shitty coding. Probably a bit of both.

Considering their track record, it woudln't surprise me if it was more than just "a bit"...

I'm wondering if they decided to make an extra special event seeing how there was a blog post being made on the Year of the Dragon for GW2. Kinda like how they made April Fools tie into the Commando joke with GW2.

I'd like to confirm that the Canthan New Year festival will start on February 2nd (at noon Pacific time). You'll get all the details tomorrow when the festival page is published.

Sorry about the delay everyone!

No love for the NFL over at ArenaNet apparently. I was signed up on these forums to sponsor a district too. There is no way I am staying up all night now though. I have a Super Bowl party to attend. Pretty disappointed at this news. Bummer.

Why would they care about superbowl? there are events like that during some other sports finals in other countries, europe, asia, etc. why is american football so important?? only one country cares about it anyway.
Back to the topic: thank you for the info Stephane. I also hope that they'll make sure that new flux won't affect the rollerbeetle racing and dragon arena.

Speaking as a resident of the "one country" that supposedly cares about it, I'm from Dallas, and frankly, could care less this year.

Default Canthan New Year

I really loved this game for many years. It was fun and beautifully done. Attention to detail was evident from the graphics to the sounds to getting weekend and special events started on time and announced as well. Over the last year things have really gone down hill. Was someone new brought in? Don't matter. Announcements for weekend events are late. Wasnt last years sweet treat weekend a couple hours old before they announced it? They have cut back on activities that were very popular during special events. Whats the deal?A-net used to have all their ducks in a row and that helped me to get 3 accounts and I have 40 chars (most closets as I keep stuff for our alliance). Now? Keep takin away from the game A-net and youll see a huge resurgence in WoW. Course we have already bought your game so who cares right? Your loyalty and ours goes hand in hand.

I think you're making an assumption about the current level of activity in Guild Wars that is unwarranted.

OT: Thanks for keeping us informed, Stephane.

The funny thing, is that according to the Lunar calendar, the Year of the Dragon actually starts on February 3rd, even though the Lunar New Year was on the 23rd.

The second of Feb is ok by me.
I have no love for coporate football.
If folks were half as enthusiastic about voting as for corporate sporting events this country would be better off.
I vote AND play GW=)
Can't wait to pop me a few stacks of Fortunes!!!

Considering that 110+ million people (mainly americans) tune in for the superbowl, it is no minor event. I'd would think that Anet would sympathise with it, being an american company. The game has evolved where it is basically a national holiday and it really does take up the entire day, not just the 3-4 hrs during the game itself. Since the finale and the superbowl are in conflict, there really is an impact.
